Today, I want to share some experience in learning English. I used to buy lots of grammar/ vocabulary books in order to pass English tests, as well as enrolling in training courses offered by well-known organizations. Basically, I tried a variety of channels to learn English well and I understand that learning English as second language can be confusing at the beginning, especially when one doesn’t know where to start. Below are some tips that I’ve learned over the years:
MIND – learning a new language requires practice and patience. Please do not expect to be master in a short period of time. It is like a work-out happening every day. Do not be discouraged by the advertisements to make you speak fluent English within 30 days. If it is possible, you take at least 30 minutes every day to practice. In short, we need keep English in our mind every day. That’s a critical reason we made this platform SpeakBanana which is an easier way to practise your english. Please feel free to record your practises and we will let you know how to improve.
MATERIALS, you should not pay much money to learn a new language nowadays. There are so many free resources available online, in library and at work – many are available for free on the Speak Banana website. I suggest you start looking for some free materials first instead of hiring a tutor right away. If you have no idea what materials you should pick, please ask yourself a question. Why do you want to learn English?
MOTIVATION, for example, I am a fan of watching inspirational videos. I search all the articles and videos on internet, and listen again and again. I find these videos very encouraging as the speakers are role models and want to share their speech, thoughts and insights with us. Some words can be strange to me, but I am curious to find out what they mean. That’s exactly how we learn a new thing. The English learning process should be joyful. We won’t remember anything we are not interested.
